SFD Week 3: The Eclipse of Ennui
Three weeks into book writing and the draft is shaping up. The thoughts creeping in are boring me.
“Is this the right book?”
“Am I the right person to write this?”
“Should I be writing something else?”
Turned out these weren’t my thoughts.
Good thing I didn’t believe them.
Let this be a reminder, if or when those thoughts sneak in that you can ignore them. There’s a pretty good chance those thoughts belong to someone else.
It’s Mercury Retrograde, and I’m REvisiting some old writing and studies. Human Design (HD) is one of them. I picked up this book (affiliate link), which so far is a good overview for business owners. I plan to purchase this course next, once some other investments are paid in full.
I’ve had three HD readings in the past five years, and I’m starting to see things in a newer light.
As a 2/5 Generator, I have an open head, anja, and throat.
I see how this has been helpful as a freelance copywriter. I sense what my clients struggle to say and easily articulate it into words.
And without writing about things, I struggle to articulate my own thoughts.
In writing this book, I’m intentionally not taking in any outside opinions, and finding it challenging at times to speak from my undefined throat.
Some of the online HD stuff I read is that those with undefined throats are great at writing fiction. But I hate fiction. I hate writing it and I can’t stand reading it.
I write truth. Once I can make sense of what it is. And do make sense of it, I write.
You’ll see my process of making sense of things through writing in this week’s behind-the-scenes video.
As a reminder, the book’s about:
Writing with the moon or nature’s rhythms. The actual title is TBD. I think it will be a guidebook to keep close as you create or reestablish a writing habit.
I always recommend to my coaching clients that they write about what they know. I’ve been teaching my writing community and clients how to find writing flow with their menstrual cycles (if they have one) or the moon for a few years. Having hosted 29-day writing challenges a handful of times, the writing is coming easily.

Today, I’ll show you behind the scenes how I’m pausing on any light edits and rolling with fast drafts with the waxing moon (which is great for surrendered writing).
