Show Your Work Wednesday: About Page Writing
An exclusive behind-the-scenes look into crafting website copy for online business with tips for drawing your reader in and adding an emotional layer to your writing.
Show Your Work — what it is
Welcome to Show Your Work Wednesday. Every week, you’ll get to see real writing examples from The Intuitive Writing School students and my mentoring clients. Everyone in the community is a real business owner. Some are new to writing online, some have run brick-and-mortar businesses, and some used to love writing and are just getting back into it.
Every example is shared here with permission. I invite you to use these examples to inspire your writing.
Why show your work?
Having been teaching entrepreneurs to write online for several years (and before that, guiding my corporate colleagues to write more authentically), I know that the best way to boost your writing skills and create your writing voice is to write (obviously), practice, and see examples.
About Page Review
Meet Jackie, a life coach and yoga teacher, her work has evolved and expanded over the years. She’s also emerged from the spiritual closet and is sharing stories she hasn’t shared before.
Ready for a website refresh, she’s updating the copy all around her website, which included an overhaul to her about page.
I hope this installation of Show Your Work inspires you to do three things:
Share your stories
Add a call to action (CTA) to your about page
Review the language on your about page to be sure you’re using words your potential clients would naturally use
